The amenities block at Bicentennial Park, Yarra Bay, will undergo an upgrade and refurbishment as part of Randwick City Council’s COVID-19 support program to create jobs and stimulate the local economy, Randwick Mayor Danny Said announced.
While the building will retain its existing façade, the updated design will create a brighter, more attractive building that will include a new roofline to provide additional natural light and ventilation.
“Yarra Bay is a beautiful part of the world and Bicentennial Park draws people to it from all over Sydney. These bright and airy new facilities will ensure that visitors can enjoy a quality facility when they visit our little slice of paradise,” stated Mayor Said.
The upgrade will include new female, male, ambulant and accessible toilets as well as new showers and baby change facilities. Portable toilets will be installed close to the site and will be available for the duration of construction.
The building will continue to provide storage space for Council’s stormwater harvesting treatment plant, and rooms for the La Perouse Aboriginal Land Council for their operational and storage needs.
