Council is creating a new walking and cycling plan for Woollahra.
In our 20-year vision and planning document Woollahra Local Strategic Planning Statement 2020, Council outlined as its first planning priority the delivery of a transport network that supports a healthy, sustainable and connected community.
We want people of all ages and needs to have access to travel choices that make it quick and easy to get to local places, our foreshore, parks and villages. That includes active transport (walking and cycling) routes that are seamlessly integrated into our private and public transport networks.
This new Active Transport Plan will outline what we want our walking and cycling infrastructure to look like, and where Council will prioritise investment in the walking and cycling networks over the next decade.
We want this plan to be shaped by our residents so that it delivers for our community. We’d like to hear from you about your priorities for walking and cycling, and what measures we could take to encourage you to walk or cycle more.
You can contribute your ideas in two ways:
Come speak to us at one of our pop-up events, which will be held at:
- Lyne Park, Rose Bay: 8.30am-10.30am & 2pm-4pm, Saturday 30 January
- Kiaora Place, Double Bay: 8.30am-10.30am & 2pm-4pm, Tuesday 9 February
Alternatively, you can share your views via our Active Transport Survey until Friday 26 February 2021.
Our project team will collate all ideas and use it to develop a walking and cycling plan that reflects the needs and wishes of Woollahra’s community. This plan will include our long-term vision for walking and cycling in Woollahra, as well as a list of ‘top priority’ walking and cycling projects for Council to implement once the plan is finished.
By mid-2021, we will complete the plan in draft and report it to Council for discussion. We will then place it on public exhibition and ask for your feedback again to check that we have got it right.
