A new program to help people understand the aged care system will be launched in Eastgardens on 26 February.
COTA NSW (Council on the Ageing NSW) has worked with Bayside Council to establish an Information Hub for the Eastern Suburbs. The Hub will provide a relaxed, supportive environment where people can learn about care at home, aged care homes, different levels of care and what services are available locally.
Friendly trained volunteers will assist people one-on-one to understand myagedcare, register for services where appropriate, and provide help filling in forms and phoning the call centre where needed. The team can also provide short talks to local groups about the aged care system.
The Hub will focus on supporting people who have difficulty getting the assistance they need. For example, they may not have access to the internet or may not be confident about finding information that way, they may have concerns about the cost of aged care or feel that their circumstances won’t be understood.
The Hub is at Eastgardens Library, ground floor, Westfield Eastgardens, 152 Bunnerong Road, on the last Wednesday of the month from 1pm – 3pm. You can make an appointment in advance, or just drop in on the day. For more information, or to make an appointment or book a talk, phone Mary on 0438 431 817 or email [email protected]
