Looped Festival encourages participants to Rethink, Repair, Regenerate.
Sydney, Australia - Australia’s first public facing circular economy festival, Looped Festival, is hitting the shores of Little Bay, Sydney at the Prince Henry Centre, on Sunday, 29th November 2020.
Looped is being hosted by Seaside Scavenge, a Sydney based not for profit organisation, typically known for their fun, inspiring community clean ups and unique concept of turning litter into currency around the nation.
The event has been supported by Randwick City Council and Federal Member for Kingsford Smith, Matt Thistlethwaite.
“Most of the products we use in our day-to-day activities (or lives) have not been designed with their end-of-life in mind and that’s why most of it ends up in landfill. But that’s not the way it has to be. Everyone has the power to shift from this linear economy (take > make > dispose) to a circular economy where we make > use > return, over and over again” says Anna Jane Linke, Seaside Scavenge CEO & Founder.
Looped Festival is about teaching people how we can:
1. design out waste and pollution;
2. keep products and materials in use for longer and;
3. most importantly regenerate natural systems.
Looped Festival intends to connect everyday Sydney-siders with change-makers shaking up the traditional linear economy of plastics, textiles and organic waste streams. Looped will shine light on the practical tools and services available for us all to transition to a less wasteful, and more meaningful lifestyle.
“Looped will be an entertaining and educational festival with workshops, art, recycled goods and music, for Sydneysiders of all ages that are concerned about the environment, want to learn more and do their part,” adds Linke.
The Festival includes an exciting lineup of live music, a Trashy Art exhibition, slam poetry and circular brands sharing their knowledge and passion for a cleaner planet. Brands include Huskee Cup, Sustainable Salons, Zero Co, Farm Wall and Ekoluv just to name a few. Attendee access also includes live waste workshops hosted by OzHarvest, Parva Little Things and Pocket City Farm.
As a Covid-Safe Partner, the Festival program is divided into three sessions 10am-12pm,12pm-2pm and 2pm - 4pm. Attendees can choose one, two or three sessions to attend by purchasing tickets for $10 each . With every ticket purchase each attendee will receive two ‘Trash Tokens’. Trash Tokens are the festival currency and will allow attendees to purchase pre-loved goods in the Thrift shop and vegan Ben & Jerry’s ice-cream.
To earn more Trash Tokens attendees can bring a bag of beach litter (collected prior to the festival) or five quality pre-washed pre-loved clothes. Attendees will also receive a Trash Token for making a social media post on the day with #loopedfestival.
